Mighty Midas Vet Bills

His Story:

One morning, we noticed Midas was not eating. He is diabetic, so it is very important that he eats and his blood sugar is regulated. We took him to the vet, and they ran tests. They said that all his blood tests, X-rays, and ultrasounds came back normal, and the only thing they found was that his intestines were inflamed. They thought he might have irritable bowel syndrome and gave us some Rx food. We took Midas to his regular vet the next morning, and he said to keep giving Midas his regular amount of insulin.

The next night, our daughter called us around 10 pm, and she was frantic, saying Midas was acting strange and she thought he was having a seizure and sent us this video. We rushed home and took him to the emergency vet. When we got to the vet, they ran tests. Midas’s blood sugar was only 40, and he had another seizure. The vet was able to stabilize his blood sugar but wanted to observe him overnight. It is a good thing he did; he ended up having 2 more seizures that night.

Midas was in the emergency vet for the next 2 days, and it was touch and go, but they were able to stabilize his blood sugar. They gave him a Freestyle Libre to help him monitor his blood sugar, so hopefully, it will not happen again. We were able to pay the $8000 vet bill through CareCredit, but we are struggling. Any donations will be used to pay off the CareCredit and used to pay for Midas’s ongoing medical needs
